One Year Ago

One year ago today, my big sister Clover died. We still miss her and think about her a lot. She was really the best kitty ever. This is Mommy's absolute favorite picture of Clover:
She used to love to lie in front of the big window and soak up all the heat and sunshine that she could. Mommy and Daddy even put special UV-blocking film on the windows so she wouldn't get sunburned.

This is Mommy's favorite picture of me and Clover together:
We are both soaking up the sunshine. I learned from her!

In other news, I want to tell you about a recent adventure I had at a cabin in Lake Tahoe two weekends ago. It was very cold there because there was lots of snow. Mommy and I went for a walk in the neighborhood, but I was not happy with having my feet touch the ground. I only walked less than a block before Mommy decided to take pity on me and tuck me snugly into my orange backpack to be carried the rest of the way. It was much more fun then!

After we got back from our walk, I discovered the wonder of the fireplace! Mommy put my bed right in front of it so I could get warm. It was soooooo nice! I snuggled up in front of that fireplace every chance I got from then on:

Bye for now,
Poppy the Little Blonde Chihuahua

Hi Poppy,

It's good to hear from you again. We are sorry about Clover. I'm sure you all miss her bunches.

That fireplace looks like a nice place to take a nap!

Ah Poppy, we are so very sorry for the loss of Clover. We know how very much it hurts. It does help the hurt to remember and to have favorite pictures. Sounds like you 2 were the bestest of friends!

Looks like you had a lot of fun in Tahoe infront of that nice warm fireplace.

Hugs, Tessa

Those are lovely pictures of you and Clover Poppy, she looks so happy sunbathing in her favourite spot.
Wow, your bed right next to the fire, life doesn't get much better than that for us dogs. Glad you enjoyed yourselves!

My chihuahua loves the fireplace as well, especially with this bitter cold snap we have been experiencing recently. Also, I am very sorry to hear of your loss last year.

We are sorry that you lost your friend. We are all sad here too, our newest brother, Stanley, left us Saturday. Maybe he and Clover are enjoying the sun together - along with Daisy Mae who left us a few weeks ago.

Why is this such a sad time?

Hi Poppy...It is sad when people and animals we love leave us, but it is happy that we can remember all the good times. I am glad your mom took pictures of you both together. Nice nap place in front of the fireplace. Better than a big pile of blankies.
Wags,
Draco

It is so hard to lose members of our family but happy memories really help. Hope all is well with you. We lost Ziggy in January and are slowly recovering, but it's been very hard for us.

Hi Poppy--
I just found your blog yesterday and read all the posts! You are one fine little dog, and I'm sure you would be good friends with my little Chihuahua, Pedro, aka Crunchy.

I hope your Mommy will post some more about your adventures soon.

I'm convinced that animals do indeed grieve and commemorate their lost friends, in their own way. Hope the healing has taken hold.
