Summer Livin'

Hi Furiends,

Oh my goodness, Mommy has gotten a little behind on helping me with my blogging.  Hhmmm, I will have to have a talk with her about that.

Are you having a good summer?  I am!  I have been enjoying the sunshine and the fruit, in that order.  Mommy got a new camera and has been having a lot of fun taking eleventy million pictures of me.  Here I am enjoying the sunshine in the backyard:

This grass is kinda prickly, but I'll just lie here for a little while.

Hey, check out this big tree at our park!  We have redwood trees at our park and when it's hot outside, a little bit of coolness can be found underneath the redwoods.

We went to the beach on Saturday.  It was warm, but windy.  I don't mind the wind that much, just as long as I get to sunbathe!

Do I have to sit like this with my butt in the sand?

Maybe I'll just lie down riiiiight here.  Aaahhhh, yes.

What's that?  I have a little sand on my nose?

Don't worry.  Mommy will get it later.

I promised there would be fruit.  I haven't forgotten.  Here I am enjoying some of the sweet bounty that summer has to offer:

Sunbathing

Hi Furiends,

I have really been enjoying the sunshine lately.  I like to go outside in the backyard in the afternoons and sunbathe a little bit.  Mommy calls it "sunbaking" because I like to get really hot.  The poppies are blooming right now, and after I relax a little bit, Mommy likes to take my picture with them.

Today I did a little sunbathing at my Grandma and Grandpa's house.  I like to sunbathe anywhere!

My Busy January

Hi Furiends!

As you can see, I have been very busy this month!  My days were full of napping while wrapped in fleece, helping my Mommy finish her smoothie, worshipping at the alter of the magic heat box, sunbathing, and walking at the park.

But my month was not all sunshine and rainbows, my furiends, no not at all.  The other day we went to the v-e-t for a pawdicure and my Mommy decided to put me on the big-dog scale in the lobby because I am often way too wiggly for the little-dog scale on the exam table.  So anyway, she put me on the scale and discovered that I weigh 9 1/2 pounds.  This sounds okay to me, but Mommy was kind of not too happy about it.

So now for the horrible news: I AM ON A DIET!!!  So far this has meant no people-food treats from the dinner table.  Noooooo!!!  I am using my best big-brown-eyes look to try to return things to their normal state, which is that of Daddy feeding me all the time.  So far it is not working.  I will keep you updated...

A Pumpkin-ey Camping Trip

Hi Everybuddy!

My parents took me on a super fun camping trip this weekend for my Mommy's birthday!  We went to a campground that is on a bluff right over the ocean with a dog-friendly beach!

We love to see signs like this because it means that our whole family is welcome here.

On our first day there we walked down to the beach and took a stroll around.  I like the beach and the sand very much.  In this picture I am contemplating the bigness of the ocean.

The next morning I was feeling very happy and well-rested after a good nights sleep in my Mommy's sleeping bag.  I like to sleep all cuddled up with her because her sleeping bag is big enough for both of us.  Sometimes I switch over to Daddy's bag, but his is smaller, so it's less roomy.  Mommy actually bought her sleeping bag extra huge specifically for me.  She felt a little silly when she bought it when the salesperson asked her why she was getting such a huge bag and she said "because I share it with an eight-pound dog."  That doesn't sound very big, but I assure you, I can take up a lot of space.

The weather was very nice and sunshiny.  I love the sunshine, especially when I can sit on my Daddy's lap and soak it up.

Later that day we went to our favorite dog-friendly pumpkin patch.  I love pumpkins!  I did some very good posings with them, don't you think?

I even went on a wagon ride!  The pumpkin that my parents picked is even bigger than me.

It was hard to look in the right place because there were so many people and dogs and children all around.

There were some pretty sunflowers at the farm, too.  We parked our pumpkin wagon in front of them to take some pictures.

A Nice Sun Spot

I love it when the sun comes in the window in the afternoon and shines on my favorite pillow. It's the perfect place for a nice sunshiny nap.

A Playdate With My Friend

Hi Everybuddy!

I had a really fun playdate yesterday with my friend Maggie.  She is so tiny and I love her!  Sometimes Mommy has to remind me that she is smaller than me and that I shouldn't run up and push my face into her face because she might be scared.  This is hard for me to understand because usually I am the smallest dog.  I sometimes forget that I'm bigger than her.

One of our favorite things to do together is play chase around the backyard.  We are very zoomie.  Maggie is pretty fast.  If I didn't have back problems, I would be as fast as her though, and don't you forget it!

I will catch up to you, Maggie!  Boing boing zoom zoom ruuuuuuunnnnn!!!  Daddy says, "Not so fast Poppy!  You don't want to hurt your back!"

Phew!  That was fun!  Did I catch you?  Or did you stop?  Well, let's not quibble over details.

After running, it's good to have a little snack.  Our garden is overflowing and Daddy picked these produces for me!  (You know how I love produce.)  At least I thought they were for me, but then I didn't get to have hardly any!  Only one small cherry tomato!  I did my best to let everybuddy know what I wanted by scratching on this big tomato.

After snacks, we did sunbathing.  We are both very fond of sunbathing.  Maybe someday we will lie right next to each other in the sun like good bestest friends.  But for now, we will choose our own sunbathing spots.  I chose the dusty goldfine because it is a little bit soft.  Maggie chose the patio.  She was close to the water bowl for easy access.  Smart!

My Beach Day

Hi Everybuddy!

On Friday I said that I was hoping to go to the beach on Saturday, and...we did!  It was so warm and sunshiny by the ocean and we had a great time.

When we got there, I started exploring and found one of my favorite things right away: iceplant!  I like to try to chew on it a little bit.  Mommy and Daddy always stop me from eating it though.  It's so juicy; they don't know what they're missing out on!

We went for a little run-around down by the water.  It is waaay too cold to go in, in my opinion.  However, there was a big black lab there who kept chasing his ball into the waves.  So brave!  I prefer to stay dry.

We had a little photo session.  Do you like my pose?  I think I did a pretty good job!

And of course I had to get a yummy treat for posing so nicely!

Mostly what I love to do at the beach is sunbathe.  I like baking until I am nice and hot.  Mommy calls me her little desert dog.  Don't worry--I always wear my sunscreen!

Roachin' and Rollin' in the Pawlympics!

Hi Everybuddy!

Today I am competing in the Roachin' and Rollin' event over at Ruby and Penny's place.  I am in heat two.  There are so many great pictures there today!  And we are all winners in the Pawlympics!

After my event was over, I took a little rest in the backyard and did some sunbathing.  It's important to stretch and cool down after exercising, you know.

And then of course I had to have a little snack.  It's important to keep your strength up if you are a Pawlympic athlete!  And there just happened to be a nice basket of tomatoes in the garden.  How convenient!

My ROAD TRIP!!!

Hi Furiends!

Last week I went on a big road trip with my parents.  We went all the way down to Beverly Hills and then all the way up to Lake Tahoe.  It was a long drive, but we had fun and saw lots of pretty stuff.  I'm pretty good at sleeping in the car anyway, so I didn't mind that much.

While we were in LA, we got to go out to dinner at a famous hot dog restaurant called Pinks.  They have veggie dogs, so my parents were happy.  And I was too, because I got to taste some of their hot dogs!!!

After dinner we walked across the street to check out a place called the "Zoom Room," which we thought might be a doggy daycare.  It turns out it's a doggy party venue and they had just finished a party and they had extra party favor bags and they gave me one because I'm so cuuuuuuute!!!!!!!  Here's what was in my bag:

While Daddy was in his class all day (that's why we were there), Mommy and I hung out in our room and on our balcony.  I caught some southern California rays and they were sooooo warm and sunshiny!

The next day while we were driving around, we saw this funny sign about STDs.  I don't know what STDs are...maybe Soooper Terrific Doggies???  Yes, I think so.

After Beverly Hills, we drove all the way up to Lake Tahoe.  We saw lots of pretty stuff on the way, but mostly I slept.  So here's a picture of me and Mommy once we got to the campground in Lake Tahoe.  It was pretty cold and windy there in the evenings--very different from Beverly Hills!

I think I would like to go back down south, please.  It was super fun!!!

I am pretending to be a rich and famous chihuahua this weekend. Daddy is taking a class in Beverly Hills and while he is studying, I am checking out the view from our hotel balcony.
